Hudson Physicians collected items for the Baldwin Backpack Buddy program, Hudson and River Falls food pantries the week of December 11.
Food insecurity still exists for those less fortunate. Children of low-income families often receive free or reduced lunches through the school system during the week, but when the weekend arrives it becomes difficult.
The Baldwin Backpack Buddy Program is a free program that provides kid-friendly, non-perishable food to elementary, middle and high school students in the community. The program supports students who are in need of food on weekends and over extended school breaks when other resources are not available. The backpacks are given to the students without ever drawing attention on the contents or the intent.
