Dr. Michael Schneider is a general surgeon at Hudson Physicians. He was board certified in 1998 and has over 20 years of experience helping people through whatever procedure they are facing. Whether they need a preventive colonoscopy or are facing a new cancer diagnosis, he aims to make each of his patients smile, laugh, and help them find the strength to face what comes next.

“When I first see patients with cancer, they are scared, nervous, and shell-shocked to a degree. I can break down their cancer in straightforward terms and present it positively. I become a coach and cheerleader to their disposition and outlook. It is a joy and a privilege to be witness to the fortitude of these patients.”

At Hudson Physicians, he specializes in minimally invasive surgery, especially of the breasts, veins, and digestive tract. He finds himself performing colonoscopies and upper endoscopies one day, and removing varicose veins the next. He is also an expert in the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol, which emphasizes a patient-centered, holistic approach to helping every patient heal even before the surgery begins.

Dr. Schneider chose Hudson because of its small-town family feel and the capacity for growth it provides. He likes that Hudson Physicians makes its patients the top priority and acts as a patient advocate when necessary.

When not on the job, Dr. Schneider stays active outdoors and spends time with his family. He is a self-proclaimed "bird nerd" who can quickly tell the difference between numerous species by sight, flight, and sound. He also enjoys grilling food for his family, participating in basketball games, running, swimming, and gardening. "I advise my patients to stay physically active, as it is relaxing and gives a sense of achievement and gratitude," he says.
