Stephen Harrold MD

"I chose to study family medicine simply because I wanted to help people."

"I like the variety of patients I can help. It's fun to see a 90-year-old patient, followed by a 1-week-old patient, or care for a high school athlete's injury, and then have a visit with a patient whom I am helping battle heart failure. There's never a dull moment, and it's always challenging."

Dr. Harrold always knew he wanted to be a doctor as a child. After a thorough education at the University of St. Thomas, he completed his medical schooling at the Indiana University School of Medicine. He then served his residency at St. Francis Hospital. He was certified in 2005 by the American Board of Family Medicine and proudly holds membership in the American Academy of Family Physicians.

With a vast array of medical training and a passion for helping people, we are proud to welcome Dr. Stephen Harrold to our fantastic team here at Hudson Physicians. Dr. Harrold chose to join us because he believes that a physician-owned and led clinic such as ours can better understand and deliver the care that every one of our patients deserves. He's delighted to be a part of our wonderful community and looks forward to helping our patients lead healthy, happy lives.

Dr. Harrold's specialty is Family Medicine, with medical interests including a mix of Pediatric Care, Dermatology, and Sports Medicine. He cares whole-heartedly about the health and well-being of his patients. Known for his excellent manner, he takes the time to listen to each of his patients and strives to provide what the patients want and need.

Dr. Harrold enthusiastically supports consistent and evidence-based medicine. He also has the 'an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure' school of thought and advocates the importance of healthy daily habits and making exercise one of your top priorities. Likewise, he believes that meditation, mindfulness, and/or prayer are important in a patient's overall physical and mental health and can significantly impact well-being, happiness, and peace of mind.

He also promotes and follows the Mediterranean Diet. Inspired by the cuisines of Greece, Italy, and Spain, this diet includes a lot of fruits, vegetables, and different kinds of seafood, along with various grains, beans, and nuts, but limits meats and dairy. He has confidence that it offers the most conclusive evidence for preventing illnesses like diabetes, heart disease, and cancer, to name a few.

When he's not busy helping his patients, Dr. Harrold likes doing anything outdoors. He spends his free time fishing and hunting, along with playing soccer, skiing, and boating, participating in church activities and doing mission work in Haiti. Having moved around quite a bit as a child, he supports an extraordinarily diverse group of sports teams, including the Indiana Hoosiers basketball, the Minnesota Wild hockey, Wisconsin football, and the Denver Broncos.

He is currently working in Hudson at Hudson Physicians' Urgent Care and looks forward to serving the New Richmond community in early 2023, when the New Richmond Medical Center opens.
