Dr. Jeff Cavaness is a Family Medicine physician providing care at Hudson Physicians Urgent Care. With more than 26 years of experience, he brings compassion, clinical skill, and a strong belief in patient-centered care to every visit.

Dr. Cavaness enjoys the variety and challenge that come with practicing both Family Medicine and Urgent Care. He values getting to know people personally and believes the best outcomes come from working together to make informed decisions about their health.

He earned his medical degree from Mayo Medical School and completed his Family Medicine residency in Pocatello, Idaho. He is board-certified in Family Medicine and a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), the Wisconsin Medical Society, and the American Medical Association (AMA).

Originally drawn to Hudson for its strong reputation and proximity to River Falls, where he lives, Dr. Cavaness appreciates the opportunity to serve a close-knit community that values high-quality care.

A Story of Meaningful Care

Dr. Cavaness recalls one of his most rewarding experiences with a patient living with type 2 diabetes and struggling to manage her health. Through years of trust and encouragement, he helped her see how her actions could inspire her daughter, who also had diabetes. The patient’s renewed motivation improved not only her health but her relationship with her daughter—a success that highlights the power of compassionate care and partnership.

Outside the Clinic

Outside of work, Dr. Cavaness enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, bicycling, and hiking. His children have also renewed his interest in horseback riding, music, and games. He believes that staying healthy is about staying curious—trying new activities, keeping routines, and surrounding yourself with people who inspire you to live well.
