Hear Sara Harris on the
Optimal Health Podcast
Sara Harris MPH, CDCES, RD
"I feel a connection and understanding of those who have diabetes due to my own diagnosis of diabetes."
The management of diabetes and the knowledge of nutrition go hand in hand. Hudson Physicians’ has an expert in their corner with staff member, Sara Harris. Sara has a Master in Public Health (or MPH), is a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (or CDCES), and is a Registered Dietitian (or RD), and who has been practicing in her field for 25 years.
Having diabetes herself, Sara literally practices what she preaches with her patients. She focuses on engaging them through motivating discussions and assistance in building confidence in diabetes self-management. Sara says, “I love seeing patients excited to take control of their diabetes through small, but significant lifestyle changes they are making. I am 20% teacher, 80% cheerleader.”
And there is nothing better than encouraging and helping those in your own community. Sara chose to work at Hudson Physicians in Hudson (and New Richmond starting in February 2023) for that specific reason – the connection she can foster with patients.
When Sara isn’t discussing ketogenic diets and Continuous Glucose Monitoring, you will find her helping her parents on their family farm where you might be seeing double – Sara has a twin sister, and her own teenage daughters are twins! She enjoys traveling and shopping with her girls, and when looking for serenity, she takes therapeutic walks with her dog who she says is “a great listener!”
